Salianji: The tower project near the Palace of Congresses shows Rama-Berisha co-governance

Former Democratic Party MP Ervin Salianji accused Edi Rama and Sali Berisha of acting together for shared political and economic interests. Referring to the project to build a 55-story tower near the Palace of Congresses, he presented it as the clearest proof of what he calls “co-governance” between the two political opponents. On the program “Përballë Lajmit” with journalist Besard Jacaj, Salianji said that although they appear publicly as rivals, Rama and Berisha unite behind the scenes when towers and financial interests are at stake.

According to him, Sali Berisha’s lack of clarity has left the Democratic Party without a clear line, while its position remains unknown. He said that PD lawmakers who join the protest do so because they do not have the courage to tell Berisha that he should leave, but instead join the crowd in calling for his departure. Salianji added that their presence there gives legitimacy to calls for the departure of Edi Rama and Sali Berisha. He stressed that Berisha’s departure from the PD would speed up Rama’s end, while in a democracy, when there is massive popular support, the government falls. According to him, Democrats should choose a new leader, while support for the government has declined as a result of this protest and world media are paying attention to the concerns raised by the protest.

Salianji insisted that Sali Berisha is not the opposition, but part of a co-governance arrangement with Edi Rama. He said that citizens are demanding a “European Albania,” while Berisha initially declared that Soros was organizing the protest, whereas now he is releasing videos from above, while anti-Berisha chants can be heard at the protest.

“Have you seen any position from Sali Berisha on the tower at the Palace of Congresses?” Salianji asked, linking this issue as well to the co-governance between them. He said the protest aims to remove this political class and that the PD should take a position. According to him, the question remains open as to whether a 55-story tower is really necessary there and whether there should be transparency about the investor’s identity and seriousness, while so far he does not see any clear position.
