Sali Berisha: Edi Rama came to Parliament to destroy the territorial reform

From outside the Parliament premises, the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, directed harsh accusations at Prime Minister Edi Rama, declaring that his presence in the plenary session had the sole purpose of “burying” the territorial reform.

According to him, the executive does not aim for a change in favor of the people, but a process that favors the political agenda and the manipulation of electoral processes.

“Edi Rama buried the territorial reform. And the de facto reform, extremely important for Albanians. He destroyed a serious one-year commitment, financially supported by international partners and state funds. He annihilated it because he wants at all costs, not a reform in service of citizens, but a project that serves the manipulation of elections and the stealing of mandates. These are the last attempts of an individual who will remain in the darkest prisons of history. Edi Rama has no more salvation. He came here deliberately to take control of the territorial reform,” said Berisha.

Regarding the protest held in front of Parliament, the Democratic leader stated that the demonstrators were harshly hit with tear gas and bear spray, while adding that there is information about seriously injured persons.

“They barbarically attacked them with tear gas and bear spray. We also have seriously injured. We are following their condition with deep concern,” he said.
