From January 1, all State Police officers will receive salary increases. Sources say the increase will be 20,000 new lek for basic-level employees and 15,000 new lek for officers with higher ranks, up to the rank of senior director.
This is considered the largest salary increase ever implemented for State Police employees. Prime Minister Edi Rama and Interior Minister Ervin Demo have previously described the measure as a significant increase for the blue uniforms.

The decision comes during a tense period, following protests held across the country in recent days, some of which have been accompanied by acts of violence and clashes between protesters and police.
During the protests, officers have been at the center of criticism and accusations from protesters over the way the situation was handled.
A few days ago, the government also announced a €2,500 bonus for State Police employees, in recognition of their commitment during the difficult situations created by the protests.
