The Ministry of Internal Affairs said the system is being put into operation following the completion of technical checks and final testing on the roads in the region.
The activation of “Safe City” in the territory covered by the Ohrid Sector of Internal Affairs was announced last week by Interior Minister Panče Toškovski during his visit to the Ohrid Sector of Internal Affairs and the Western Regional Center.
According to the ministry, the system will provide greater and uninterrupted traffic monitoring, faster detection of violations, strengthened traffic discipline and increased road safety.
The ministry called on drivers to strictly comply with traffic rules and regulations and to act responsibly in order to help improve traffic safety.
During his stay in Ohrid, Minister Toškovski said that this year, compared with the same period last year, the number of people injured in traffic accidents had fallen by 20 percent, while 34 fewer fatalities had been recorded.
