Russian Missiles Strike Kyiv, One Dead and Seven Injured Reported

One person has died and seven others have been injured following a Russian missile attack on Kyiv carried out in the early morning hours.

The shelling caused damage to a number of buildings and vehicles, and sparked fires in several parts of the Ukrainian capital.

Ukrainian authorities reported that the Air Force and the Kyiv military command began issuing repeated missile warnings from 01:20, urging citizens to seek shelter.

According to Mayor Vitali Klitschko, flames were recorded at a dormitory, an apartment building, and a supermarket. He said the attacks affected at least five districts of Kyiv, while damage was also reported at other facilities and warehouses.

Emergency services immediately engaged to extinguish the fires and assist the injured. Meanwhile, authorities are continuing to verify the damage caused by the attacks.

Since the invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022, Russia has carried out almost daily attacks with long-range missiles and drones against Kyiv.

This attack comes one day after a Ukrainian drone operation struck two logistics company depots on Russian territory, where, according to Russian authorities, at least eight casualties were caused.

The intensification of strikes from both sides demonstrates that the war between Russia and Ukraine remains fierce, while diplomatic initiatives to bring the conflict to a close have yet to produce concrete results.
