According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, future strikes will focus on military infrastructure, defense industry facilities and structures linked to them, both in the Ukrainian capital and in other parts of the country.
The warning was issued after Zelensky said in an interview with Reuters that Ukraine would continue its attacks on Russian oil refineries.
The Ukrainian president said these actions were linked to Russia’s air campaign and the strikes it has carried out against Ukrainian infrastructure. He stressed that Ukraine’s targets would be energy-related and that civilians would not be targeted.
The heightened rhetoric on both sides comes at a time when Kyiv has once again become a focus of attention, as the Russian offensive and Ukrainian counterstrikes increase tensions and the risk of a further escalation of the war.
Russia’s Ministry of Defense did not specify when the threatened strikes would take place or what scale they would have. Meanwhile, Ukraine has reiterated that it will continue striking targets linked to Russia’s energy sector.
