Russia Issues Stark Warning to London Over Advanced Drones Used by Ukraine in Strikes on Russian Targets

The Russian Embassy in London has issued a clear warning, though without providing specific details, stressing that Britain will face inevitable consequences for the support it has provided through modern drone technology. The equipment supplied by London is enabling Kyiv to conduct strike operations deep inside Russian territory, with results that have proved highly destructive.

Britain’s Ministry of Defence responded by stating that it remains unwavering in its support for Ukraine. It reiterated its commitment to providing Ukraine with the equipment it needs to defend itself against Russian aggression. Although this is not the first threat Moscow has directed at Britain since the conflict erupted in 2022, such rhetoric is expected only to strengthen British resolve and reinforce the need to increase funding for its armed forces and defence budget, including its commitments within the NATO alliance.

Events escalated last weekend when the Ukrainian military deployed British-made drones as part of its long-range strike campaign. According to reports by The Times, the practice has been in place for at least six months. In addition to these long-range drones, Ukraine has also used Storm Shadow cruise missiles, which have demonstrated impressive accuracy and striking power. The drones, known by the codename Nyan, are equipped with engines developed by the British company BAE Systems. Another drone model is also involved, though its details have not yet been made public. Targets reached by these unmanned aerial vehicles include Russian refineries located near Moscow, as well as facilities in the Yaroslavl and Volgograd regions.

These drones, which resemble aircraft and have wingspans of up to 29 metres, are launched from portable platforms. This feature makes them extremely easy to launch from both land and ships, allowing them to operate in challenging environments where GPS signals are disrupted by electronic jamming systems. According to British manufacturer BAE Systems, the aircraft are designed to strike deep inside enemy territory with various warhead payloads, while also serving as decoys and providing operators with crucial information about the positions of enemy troops and air systems.

At this stage of the conflict, Ukrainian forces have repeatedly attacked Wildberries, widely regarded as Russia’s equivalent of Amazon. As a result, seven of its ten main logistics centres have been destroyed or seriously damaged. Current estimates indicate that these operations have caused the Russian economy financial losses of around £35 billion.
