Rrahmani at protest outside government: Special Court ruling unjust, PDK reviews legal steps

Eman Rrahmani, a PDK lawmaker, has opposed the Special Court’s ruling on the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army, calling it unjust.

Speaking at the protest held in front of the Kosovo government building, he said that citizens and institutions have a duty to support the former KLA leaders and work for their return to Kosovo.

According to Rrahmani, PDK is reviewing all available legal avenues to respond to this ruling.

He said such a ruling should not be accepted, because the accused are the people who liberated the country and its people. Rrahmani stressed that there is an obligation to offer every assistance, to stand by them, and to work for their return to the country they left free. He added that the parliamentary group is analyzing legal possibilities for making legal and constitutional decisions, with the aim that no one faces injustice during trial, especially the liberators being held in The Hague.

Rrahmani also announced that PDK is working to collect signatures for a possible initiative in the Assembly, despite constitutional violations that, according to him, have recently occurred in the Kosovo Assembly.

The PDK lawmaker said that the situation and actions to be taken are being assessed, while signature collection continues. According to him, steps must be in line with the Constitution and the country’s laws, in order to prevent injustice against those who liberated Kosovo and were ready to die for it.

He described this as the minimum action that lawmakers can take and as their obligation. Rrahmani added that, if stopping an injustice requires even constitutional violations, this does not constitute harm, but rather honor for the fighters and fulfillment of the martyrs’ legacy.
