Rexhepi-Zejd: Albanian municipalities record more births than deaths, but the government continues to violate Albanians’ rights

Skender Rexhepi-Zejd, leader of the People’s Movement, has accused the government of violating the rights of Albanians and the Albanian language.

He notes that the statements by the prime minister and the education minister about the increase in the number of births, as well as calls for emigrants to return to the country, do not match the reality reflected in demographic data.

According to Rexhepi-Zejd, demographic developments are not the same for all communities, so the statistics should be analyzed in order to understand the country’s specific concerns.

“The current OBRM-PDUKM government’s primary aim is to violate the rights of Albanians and the Albanian language,” he said.

Rexhepi-Zejd emphasizes that in municipalities with an Albanian majority, there are more births than deaths, while across all 80 municipalities in the country, only 17 have recorded positive natural population growth.

According to him, some of the municipalities with the best demographic indicators are precisely those where Albanians make up the majority.

Based on these population census figures, he asks which demographic trend the government is actually concerned about and what message these statistics convey.

Rexhepi-Zejd’s position is part of the ongoing criticism he has directed at government policies concerning the rights and representation of Albanians.
