Revenue from road tolls exceeds €31 million in five months

From January to June, 1,919,775,277 denars—an amount exceeding €31 million—was collected through road toll payments in the country. According to the Public Enterprise for State Roads (PESR), 21,891,532 more denars were collected compared with the same period last year, AIM reported.

In terms of the number of vehicles passing through them, Tetovo is the busiest toll station. It is followed by Petrovec, Romanovce, Glumovo, Miladinovci, Zhelino, Gostivar, Stobi, Kadrifakovo, Preod, Sopoto, Demir Kapija, Otovica and Gevgelija.

Meanwhile, in terms of the amount collected and ticket prices, Romanovce ranks first. It is followed by Miladinovci, Petrovec, Glumovo, Zhelino, Tetovo, Stobi, Preod, Gostivar, Sopoto, Gevgelija, Kadrifakovo, Otovica and Demir Kapija.

The PESR announced that during periods of increased traffic, especially the summer season, the Toll Collection Department prepares action plans and special schedules. All available lanes are activated at every toll station along the two corridors. Priority is also given to electronic collection through ENP on MTag, with at least one lane operating continuously. These are vehicles that pass through without stopping. The MCard system is also used, enabling contactless passage without interaction with employees.

Electronic collection accounts for 36 percent of total toll revenue at the 11 stations where this system has been installed.

According to the PESR, data on the sale and top-up of electronic devices, including MTags, which are also sold at operators’ outlets, show that the share of electronic collection in total such revenue has increased by 6 percent.

Meanwhile, last year, by December 23, revenue from road toll payments reached 4,158,914,362 denars, or €67,624,624. /Telegrafi/
