Residents of Malbardhë village in Kurbin protest over deteriorated road: In winter it becomes impassable

The lack of investment in infrastructure has brought the residents of Malbardhë village in Kurbin out to protest, demanding immediate intervention for the reconstruction of the road that connects their area to the main axis.

The segment of about 1.3 kilometers, according to residents, has been in a deteriorated state for more than three decades and has made daily movement difficult for the families of the area.

Residents say that the road has seen no investment for about 36 years, and during the rainy season it becomes a serious problem for circulation.

According to them, around 200 families living in the lower part of the village face daily difficulties getting to work, school, or accessing basic services.

“It has been promised several times that it would be paved with asphalt, but so far nothing has been done. In winter it becomes impassable,” said a resident.

Another resident stated that the lack of interventions has directly impacted the life of the community.

“This road has been like this for 36 years. It makes our lives very difficult,” he said.

In support of the protest were also members of the opposition Municipal Council, Albert Ndoci and Sefedin Lika, who raised concerns about the distribution of investments in rural areas of Kurbin.

On the other hand, Kurbin Municipality has made it known that the reconstruction of this segment is included in this year’s budget and work is expected to start soon.

Residents demand that the promise of intervention not remain only on paper, but that the road be reconstructed after decades of waiting.
