Renovated terminal at Ohrid airport opens, Mickoski: Macedonia is better today than it was three years ago

The renovated terminal at Ohrid’s “St. Paul the Apostle” Airport has officially opened. At the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said the airport was entering a new phase in terms of the pace and quality of its services.

According to him, both the number of passengers and the number of airlines using Ohrid Airport’s services are expected to increase in the period ahead.

Mickoski described the airport as an important hub for the development of the region, Macedonia as a country, and Ohrid, Struga and the other surrounding municipalities. He stressed that improved connections and airport infrastructure directly contribute to economic growth.

The prime minister said that, based on information received from representatives of TAV Airports, who he said had done impressive work in Macedonia in recent years, “St. Paul the Apostle” Airport was setting records this year.

He noted that there had been days with more than 3,000 passengers, the highest figure recorded in a single day so far, as well as days with more than 20 flights, describing this as an important indicator.

Mickoski expressed his conviction that, thanks to the construction work and government support, these figures would double in the future. He also announced that the government would continue investing in infrastructure, with the aim of turning Macedonia into a regional crossroads.

“I know that we still face many problems that need to be resolved and that life may not yet be at the level we desire. Nevertheless, I am convinced that, through the investments and activities undertaken by the government, Macedonia is a much better place to live today than it was three years ago,” Mickoski said.

He added that this conviction was based on the government’s strong motivation and the support he said it was receiving from citizens, which encouraged him to continue working with even greater intensity.
