Release of water test results in Gostivar expected by August 20, minister Klekovski announces

Health Minister Sasho Klekovski has announced that detailed results concerning the contamination of drinking water in Gostivar will be made public by August 20 at the latest.

In an interview with “Kanal 5,” Klekovski said the emergency situation was giving way to normality, as the number of new daily cases had fallen significantly. According to him, the number of newly registered patients recently ranged from 40 to 80, figures that correspond to the typical average for August.

However, he explained that the official declaration marking the end of the epidemic would be delayed until it was fully verified that none of the new infections was linked to water consumption. A group of specialists is currently working on a detailed report on the causes and spread of the problem.

The minister added that the full chronology of events would be made available to the Food and Veterinary Agency and the Crisis Management Center before being made public to citizens.

Asked about accusations from opposition ranks, Klekovski said he was open to facing justice. He stated that he was ready to testify before the Public Prosecutor’s Office, provided that it was first clarified what criminal offense he was accused of.
