Rama to Turkish media: Albania will host the next NATO Summit, Turkey is a strategic partner

In an interview with Turkish media, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama commented on the conclusions of the NATO Summit, relations between Albania and Turkey, developments in the Balkans, as well as cooperation in the defense industry and tourism.

Speaking about the summit, Rama stressed that the meeting clearly demonstrated the determination of the alliance’s European countries to strengthen their military capabilities and adapt to security challenges.

“I do not believe there was a single decision that could be called the most important. The summit showed that NATO’s European wing has built a very strong military structure and is determined to modernize its forces to confront threats,” he said.

The head of government also praised the way the summit was organized, underlining that the hospitality and professionalism shown by Turkey left a good impression on all participants.

Speaking about his relationship with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Rama described him as a close friend and Albania’s strategic partner.

“Our relationship is brotherly. He is a very close friend and has made great efforts to raise the partnership between Albania and Turkey to a strategic level,” Rama said.

According to him, Erdogan has shown commitment to the stability of the Balkans and plays an important role in initiatives aimed at peace in the region.

In the interview, Rama also touched on discussions about the tourism project in the Zvernec area, clarifying that there is still no final project.

He added that concerns about the environmental impact are welcome, but the final decision will be based on expert assessments rather than political clashes.
