Rama Mocks Protesters With Agolli, Klevin Muka Responds With the Poem “One Madman Drives a Country Mad”

For 37 days, major protests have continued in our country calling for the government’s removal, while the main, immediate and non-negotiable demand remains the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.

The head of government has reacted almost every day to the protesters, saying they are being deceived and used, while he has gone so far as to claim that the nationwide gatherings are being organized by foreign agents.

This morning, Rama posted on social media a poem by Dritëro Agolli titled “To My Opponents.”

“You are throwing so much mud at me, That in the mud covering my body A pear tree or a quince could grow, A great grove of oak. In that grove you may keep livestock, You may go hunting with hounds, You may climb the trees and eat, If you wish, both pears and quinces. The mud rises upon me, rich enough, That the grove grows green upon it… You unwittingly turned my body green And truly made it a plantation”, read the verses shared by the head of government.

Meanwhile, well-known journalist Klevin Muka, who had also clashed online with the prime minister a day earlier, responded with another poem by the same author, “One Madman Drives a Country Mad.”

“In my country and in your country They pierce the cabbage, pretending wisdom. In my country and in your country You feel the itch, the other feels the pain. In my country and in your country They bake the moon like a pancake on stone. In my country and in your country One madman drives a country mad”, says Dritëro Agolli’s poem.
