Rama defends Albania’s cybersecurity ranking: Attacks came “like flocks of crows

Prime Minister Edi Rama responded in a Facebook post following criticism of Albania’s first-place ranking in the Global Cybersecurity Index.

Rama addressed those who disputed the news, describing them as “loyal haters” and an army of trolls who, according to him, immediately launched a barrage of accusations and comments.

He asked why, if the ranking was truly a “lie,” “propaganda,” or “nonsense,” opponents had expended so much energy attacking it. According to the prime minister, no one normally tries to extinguish a candle that is already out.

Rama stressed that Albania’s position in the National Cyber Security Index is determined neither by opponents nor by trolls, but by an international methodology. He said Albania received a score of 98.33 points, based on its legal framework, institutional capacities, and prevention mechanisms.

“The table does not change” because of attacks and negative comments, Rama said, adding that critics could react however they wished, but the ranking remained the same.

The prime minister also mocked those who, according to him, find it difficult to accept that Albania tops the global ranking precisely in a field related to protection from malicious trolling. He said there was no cure for “the haters’ pain.”

Rama said that every comment from opponents generates more clicks and regarded this as one more reason to smile on a day he described as a wonderful moment and a fantastic achievement.

According to him, friends and allies who understand the importance of this index congratulated him, while Albanian critics attacked him. Rama claimed that both reactions confirm that Albania has risen to the top, where only a few years ago it ranked at the bottom.

He added that this progress troubles only those who always want to see Albania at the bottom and who, according to him, have spent months pursuing dreams of revolutions, resignations, and power, even manufacturing a diaspora from Pristina and Tetovo.
