Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted on the X platform to the Administrative Court’s decision on salary increases, expressing his opposition to the request to enforce the ruling without first submitting it to Parliament.

According to Rama, the court acted with unusual speed in the case concerning its own salaries, while thousands of other cases related to citizens’ concerns have remained pending for years.
“If the Administrative Court had applied the same standard to every citizen or institution in distress, with the hellish speed with which it apparently acted today to open the Treasury’s doors for its own salary increases without Parliament’s approval, I believe every employed Albanian would be ready to donate half a salary to the flying runners of the Administrative Court…,” he wrote.
The prime minister described the decision as “highly disturbing,” also questioning the adoption of a measure which, he said, seeks to accelerate the implementation of an act that may be contrary to the law and the public interest.
“But to take, in the blink of an eye, the first security measure in the history of the world, not to stop but to encourage, for personal interest, the enforcement of an act that apparently undermines the law and the public interest, while thousands upon thousands of cases involving people’s grievances have been waiting for years in the drawers of that very court, is something highly disturbing!” Rama continued.
Rama stated that the decision to use State Treasury funds must be approved by the legislative branch.
“The doors of the State Treasury can be opened only by the independent legislative branch, and the Parliament of Albania will do its duty on this matter, in accordance with the decision of the Constitutional Court, on Thursday, September 17,” he further asserted.
The head of government’s reaction comes after the institutional clash created by the decision on magistrates’ salaries, while the issue is expected to continue being discussed in Parliament.
