Rama attacks the European Democrats: Blocking MPs is disgusting behavior!

Prime Minister Edi Rama has responded to the tensions and clashes that took place the previous day during citizens’ protest outside Parliament, as well as to the European Democrats’ reaction to the events.

In a post on the social network X, Rama described blocking MPs as disgusting behavior, while taking aim at the European Democrats, who said that under his leadership, the country was putting democratic standards to the test.

Rama wrote that the European Democrats should be ashamed of supporting this behavior and trying, in his view, to sell it as democratic opposition.

“So, for your particular kind of lazy democrats, blocking MPs from entering Parliament’s opening session is called ‘opposition’? Perhaps that is how it looks from the comfort of your keyboards. But not to your Albanian colleagues, from right to left, who were forced to pass through a corridor of insults and physical violence, with eggs and even stones thrown at them, simply to reach their place of work,” he wrote.

The prime minister then mentioned the incident involving MP Iris Luarasi, who faced the protesters’ actions at the shopping center near Parliament.

Rama addressed the European Democrats, saying that Albania is a freer and more democratic country than, as he added, “your narrow-minded politics.”

“And please, leave Albania alone and do not drag it into this story. Albania is a genuinely free country and far more democratic than your narrow-minded politics. It does not deserve to become chewing gum in the mediocre mouths of people who trade facts for loose political engagement,” he added.

Are you not ashamed to support such disgusting behavior and sell it as democratic opposition? Apparently not.

By the way, look at how a respected female MP, a distinguished academic and a widely recognized defender of women’s rights is insulted and mistreated by your models of “opposition” as she simply tries to reach her place of work.

And this was not even the worst of what your Albanian colleagues had to endure yesterday.
