QMK: Fires remain active in the Likova region

The Kumanovo Regional Crisis Management Center (QRMK) reports that fires remain active in the villages of Matejçe and Strima in the Municipality of Likova, in mountainous areas where intervention is difficult.

In Mateç, the flames have spread along the road leading to the monastery. Three teams from the regional unit of the “National Forests” public enterprise were deployed to extinguish the fire, but the inaccessible terrain prevented them from fully containing it, so the teams withdrew.

Another fire remains active in the village of Strima. Residents managed to extinguish the part of the fire that was near homes, while the flames continue in the mountainous heights, in the “Crven Kamen” area.

According to data from “National Forests,” relayed by the Kumanovo Regional Crisis Management Center, aircraft are needed to extinguish the fires. The Kumanovo Fire Department, the State Forestry Service, the Forestry Department and the Municipality of Likova have been informed of the situation./Telegrafi/
