During the protest held in support of the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army, Kosovo’s institutions were urged to urgently take steps to amend and supplement the law on the Specialist Chambers. This demand came after the decision of the court in The Hague, which on September 16 sentenced Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi to a total of 81 years in prison.

Nasim Haradinaj, former head of the KLA War Veterans Organization, said the government should send the draft law on amending the law on the Specialist Chambers to the Assembly as soon as possible, with a deadline before October 6.
Haradinaj calls for institutional action on the Specialist Chambers law
Haradinaj asked the deputies of the Assembly of Kosovo to unite around this issue. According to him, problems related to the Specialist Chambers should be solved through institutions and not through protests.
“It is true that today is the 15th day… I call on the Assembly for unification, because if they do not unify, if they do not pass the law, it will not go well. And why push the people into the streets, hold a demonstration unnecessarily when we have the opportunity to solve the problems quietly and permanently,” Haradinaj said.
Kadriaj: Former KLA members must return innocent
Time Kadriaj, a deputy of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, said it would be shameful if the government does not take measures for the release of former president Hashim Thaçi and other former KLA leaders, Jakup Krasniqi, Kadri Veseli and Rexhep Selimi.
“Kosovo’s liberators must return innocent, the same example as Croatia must be followed, which for 24 years has brought him back innocent… It is a shame if the government does not send to the Assembly and has not so far sent the law on amendment and supplement, in which some amendments are attempted that would facilitate the work of this court,” Kadriaj said.
Musliu: Kosovo has a historic opportunity
PDK deputy Ganimete Musliu stressed that the responsibility for continuing this process belongs to Kosovo’s institutions.
“It is true that it is in Kosovo’s hands and it must be in Kosovo’s hands. We have the historic opportunity to do the best possible,” Musliu said.
Gold Ag: Support for the KLA must be shared
Singer Gold Ag said that citizens are proving their support for the former KLA leaders every day.
“We must work as soon as possible, the people themselves, in Kosovo, Albania, all the way to America, to show that we are with the KLA and we are all with the KLA,” he said.
During the protest, a citizen expressed criticism of Kosovo’s institutions for the delay, according to him, in taking action regarding the Specialist Chambers.
Citizen: Steps on the Specialist Chambers should have been taken earlier
“The institutions should have worked earlier and not now when they are not doing anything. What statements our institutions have given, it is shameful to say,” he said.
Meanwhile, tomorrow from 21:00, in “Skënderbeu” square in Pristina, the next protest of the “Freedom has a Name” platform will be held. The event is organized in support of the former KLA leaders and against the decision of the Specialist Chambers.
Protests against the Specialist Chambers decision have also been held outside Kosovo, while gatherings have taken place in Skopje, in several cities of the United States of America, in Canada, Switzerland, Germany and Austria. Other protests have also been announced in Brussels.
