Protest Enters Its 70th Day, Steve Hanke: Albanians Continue Revolt Against Corruption, Rama Must Leave

Renowned American professor Steve Hanke has commented on social media about the mass protests taking place in Tirana against Prime Minister Edi Rama and his government.

Hanke, who was honored in Albania with the country’s high distinction, the “Knight of the Order of the Flag,” has openly expressed his support for the public reaction, while making direct accusations over luxury investment projects in the country.

“For the 69th day, thousands of Albanians gathered in Tirana. Protesters accused Prime Minister Rama and Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, of CORRUPTION. As a Knight of Albania’s Order of the Flag, it is time for Albania to abandon Kushner’s luxury project and for Prime Minister Rama to take the exit door,” Hanke wrote.

With this stance, the internationally renowned economist describes the presence of citizens in the square as a clear message calling for the immediate cancellation of the luxury tourism project. At the same time, he is calling on the head of the Albanian government to resign.
