Prosecutor’s Office requests pre-trial detention for nine suspects in war crimes case in Zubin Potok

The Special Prosecution Office of the Republic of Kosovo has asked the Basic Court in Pristina, Special Department, to impose pre-trial detention on nine people suspected of “War crimes against the civilian population.”

According to the allegations contained in the prosecution’s request, D.D., M.R., M.R., R.R., S.D., S.D., V.L., R.R. and D.D. are suspected of having participated in the killing and disappearance of 23 civilians in Zubin Potok.

The request for pre-trial detention is supported by the evidence and information secured so far during the investigation.

The nine people were arrested yesterday in Zubin Potok on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of “War crimes against the civilian population.” The Special Prosecution Office and the Kosovo Police announced that the arrests were carried out during the operation codenamed “File 23,” linked to the case known as the “Group of Intellectuals.”

The Special Prosecution Office stated that the investigations and proceedings would continue within its legal powers, while respecting the rights of the persons involved and maintaining the confidentiality of information that cannot be made public at this stage.
