Prosecution investigates authenticity of water reports in Gostivar, does not rule out expanding investigation

The Prosecution is investigating a new lead regarding the regularity of water analyses in Gostivar, conducted by the Public Health Center in Gostivar and the Institute of Public Health. The key question remains why the contamination was not detected in time through these checks.

During a meeting with the media, prosecutors clarified that at this stage they cannot assert whether the previously submitted reports on water quality were accurate or manipulated, as the investigation is still ongoing.

To shed light on this issue, additional expert analyses will be ordered to examine the sampling and testing method. Likewise, all water checks carried out during the current and previous year will be scrutinized. If violations or responsibilities of other entities are discovered, the investigation will be extended to them as well.

On the other hand, the Food and Veterinary Agency announced that samples analyzed by the Public Health Center in Gostivar on June 29 and July 13 classified the water as potable. The irony lies in the fact that it was precisely on July 13 that the number of patients with gastrointestinal complaints began to rise.
