Prosecution Deepens Investigation Into the “Botox” Case

The Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for the Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption is expanding the investigative procedure related to an organized criminal group suspected of illegally importing, distributing and administering medicines and medical devices.

During the day yesterday, on the order of the competent prosecutor, searches were carried out at five locations in Skopje, including two healthcare institutions.

As part of this operation, three people were arrested, two of whom are doctors.

Based on the evidence secured, the public prosecutor has issued an order to launch an investigative procedure against four people.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, three of the suspects are charged with the criminal offenses of “criminal association” and “violation of industrial property rights and unauthorized use of a foreign company name,” while the fourth person is suspected of the criminal offense of “violation of industrial property rights and unauthorized use of a foreign company name.”

At the request of the competent public prosecutor, the preliminary proceedings judge at the Basic Criminal Court Skopje has imposed precautionary measures on all four suspects.

This case was opened in April of this year, when an order was issued to conduct an investigative procedure against 17 individuals and six legal entities, for whom there are reasonable grounds to suspect that they were involved in committing the criminal offenses of “criminal association,” “violation of industrial property rights and unauthorized use of a foreign company name,” and “taking bribes.”

The Prosecutor’s Office said in its statement that the investigation is continuing in order to fully clarify all the circumstances of this case and determine whether other people may also be involved.
