Prime Minister Rama presents “Flamingo Mirror”: We are publishing important government files

Prime Minister Edi Rama has presented “Flamingo Mirror,” a public online platform where citizens will be able to access data, documents and information on matters and projects of public interest.

In his remarks, the prime minister said the first file published on the platform, which is part of “Pasqyrë Albania,” concerns the Sazan and Zvërnec project. The project sparked mass protests against his government at the end of May, and the protests continue to this day, with demonstrators demanding his resignation.

“Of course, we could not begin with anything other than the most compelling file in the Republic of Albania today: the Sazan-Zvërnec file. It is a resource that will serve everyone, allowing citizens to see not just what the government writes, but what is written in all the official documents and what the materials in a government file say,” Rama said.

Rama added that the file is not complete and will be supplemented with documents as they become available because, he said, the environmental impact study and the urban planning project have not yet been completed.

“It will be supplemented with other documents as the process continues. The file does not contain the environmental impact study because it has not yet arrived, nor does it contain the urban planning and architectural project because that has not arrived either. As soon as they arrive, they will be posted on Pasqyrë,” Rama added.

The prime minister said two other much-discussed files, concerning KAYO and the Milot-Balldren road, would also be published soon.

“Very soon we will publish the government file on KAYO, another name being discussed on social media channels and television. Milot-Balldren has also been a subject of discussion based, in our view, on fabrications, half-truths and unverified information,” he added.

Rama said “Flamingo Mirror” is part of “Pasqyrë Albania,” where every government project or public work financed by Albanian citizens’ taxes can be followed in real time.

This component of Pasqyrë Albania, like Pasqyrë Albania itself, is a response to a call from society expressed through the protests in early June. It is also a necessity in a new era when facts are increasingly under pressure from clouds of disinformation, fabrications, half-truths and unverified information. We have called it Flamingo Mirror. It is clear that we will continue to add to Flamingo Mirror every government file that is of particular public concern, and the team and I are preparing several other topics. Very soon we will publish the government file on KAYO, another name being discussed on social media channels and television. Milot-Balldren has also been a subject of discussion based, in our view, on fabrications, half-truths and unverified information. In these cases, the facts have come under intense pressure from a world that increasingly depends on what is said rather than how, and how thoroughly, it is verified.

As I said, it is a component of Pasqyrë Albania. There will be a number of components. Pasqyrë Albania will also offer the ability to follow in real time every government project, public project or public work financed by citizens’ taxes. Flamingo Mirror also has a question-and-answer component, with questions gathered in real time, including through AI, from what is written and said about the file in question, along with the official response.
