Prime Minister: Albanians Judge Us Mercilessly and Demand Accountability, Even If Your Name Is Edi Rama

This Friday, at the expanded meeting of the Socialist Party parliamentary group and the government cabinet, Prime Minister Edi Rama acknowledged during his speech that Albanian citizens have raised their expectations of the government and that they now judge those in power more harshly than before.

The head of state said that Albanians no longer compare the country with the past, but with what they expect it to achieve in the future, emphasizing that “they judge us mercilessly” and “demand accountability for everything that remains to be done,” despite the fact that at the head of the government is “even if your name is Edi Rama.”

“The Flamingo Boulevard is the most exemplary proof that Albanians compare Albania not with the boulevard of shortages, but with the land of opportunities where they expect to arrive.

In fact, they almost want to forget even what they still remember, because they judge us mercilessly precisely because they saw what changed.

The crossroads I have spoken about before is this one. We brought Albania out of the era of shortages. We and no one else.

Therefore, today we face a people who measure Albania by their own expectations and demand accountability from us, more than we would like, for everything yet to be done.

A people who get annoyed when we show how far we have come from and how high they will go. They are right.

The greater and stronger you are in the face of this right, the more at risk you are. If you don’t understand that it is greater than you, whether you are the Socialist Party itself or whether your name is Edi Rama,” the prime minister said.
