Police Oversight Agency detains police officer in Tirana, suspected of using violence against his minor daughter

The Police Oversight Agency, through its Tirana Regional Directorate, has detained on its own initiative State Police officer E. M., who is suspected of the criminal offense of “Domestic Violence,” as provided for under Article 130/a of the Penal Code.

The measure was taken following immediate investigative actions launched over suspicions that he had used physical violence against his minor daughter. After reviewing the circumstances and with the prosecutor’s authorization, the Police Oversight Agency decided to detain him.

The procedural materials have been referred to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction in Tirana, while the detained person has been placed at the disposal of the prosecuting authority for the continuation of legal procedures.

The Police Oversight Agency emphasizes that it remains committed to protecting legality, ensuring accountability, and increasing citizens’ trust in law enforcement institutions.
