The Ministry of Internal Affairs has announced that a police officer has been criminally charged with the offense of “Causing general danger,” as provided for under Article 288 of the Criminal Code.

The Department for Internal Control, Criminal Investigations and Professional Standards within the Ministry of Internal Affairs filed the charge with the competent Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Kumanovo against M.N.
According to the announcement, the officer, who is employed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Department for Special Police Operations, used his service pistol on two occasions on 01.08.2026, outside official working hours. He is suspected of firing several shots into the air, first in front of a hospitality establishment and later in Kratovo’s town square.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs also announced that the Department for Internal Control will propose the initiation of proceedings to determine responsibility for violating order and discipline at work. Until the disciplinary proceedings are concluded, the officer is expected to be suspended, namely temporarily removed from his position./Telegrafi/
