PISA 2025 results/ Albania ranks first in the region, Rama: We have surpassed several EU member states

In a live broadcast on Facebook, Prime Minister Edi Rama described Albania’s results in the international PISA 2025 assessment as extraordinary evidence of the work carried out in education.

Rama said that Albanian students had made significant improvements in mathematics, science and reading.

According to him, Albania ranked first in the region in several of these areas, while the credit, beyond the government and the Ministry of Education, also belongs to teachers, school administrators and the students themselves.

Rama said that intensive work had been carried out over the course of a year to achieve this result, with the aim of addressing the problems identified.

He described the students’ performance as the best Albania has ever achieved in PISA 2025, an assessment that measures the learning levels of children in pre-university education in mathematics, science and reading.

The prime minister stressed that the country had made extraordinary progress after the Covid period, when, like other countries, it experienced a decline in results.

He added that Albania now leads the region and that this result represents an important recognition for everyone involved in the education of children.

Rama particularly praised the work of teachers and school administrators, saying that the result was encouraging and demonstrated the commitment of the Ministry of Education.

During the broadcast, he also responded to several comments from followers, including Eda Hoxha, who described it as “a load of nonsense,” as well as a reader who wrote that the students themselves had achieved the result.

Responding to another comment asking what he had done during the past 12 years, Rama said that this achievement was one of the important results that, in his view, had not received enough attention.

He emphasized that Albania had not only significantly increased its scores, but had also overtaken several countries that are now members of the European Union.

“This country has its best still ahead of it,” Rama said, adding that the results published the previous day had become known worldwide and that the work would continue.
