PHOTOS/ Solar Eclipse Sweeps Across Europe, from Germany to Greenland

Millions of people in the United Kingdom, several European countries and beyond watched as the Moon began to pass in front of the Sun in one of the most significant solar eclipses of recent decades.

Across most of Britain, the phenomenon is expected to peak at around 7:15 p.m. local time, when more than 90% of the solar disk will be covered.

Various British cities have filled with people who came out to observe the sky using special protective glasses. Bermondsey in London was among the locations where people gathered to watch the phenomenon.

The eclipse entered its total phase in Iceland, while it was also observed in Spain, including Arija. Images of the phenomenon were also recorded in Greenland, Germany and Norway.

The event also attracted particular interest from the scientific community. A team of Irish researchers followed the eclipse across the Atlantic to study the solar corona and collect data during the different phases of the phenomenon.

Considered one of the most spectacular astronomical phenomena visible from Europe, the eclipse has renewed interest in the study of the Sun and space phenomena.
