Pezeshkian: Iran Faces a “Full-Scale War,” From Missiles to the Economy and Citizens’ Well-Being

Masoud Pezeshkian has said that Iran is engaged in a “full-scale war” that, according to the Iranian president, is being waged not only on the military front but is also directly affecting the national economy.

During a meeting of Iran’s Supreme Judicial Council, he said the current confrontation also aims to undermine the country’s economic and social stability. According to the state-run IRNA news agency, Pezeshkian said: “The reality is that today the Islamic Republic of Iran is engaged in a full-scale war.”

The Iranian president argued that the conflict cannot be viewed solely as a missile battle. According to him, Iran’s adversaries have realized that military attacks are not enough to force the Iranian people to surrender.

Pezeshkian said the main front in this confrontation has now shifted to the economy and citizens’ standard of living, while warning about the impact of economic pressure. “It is unacceptable for us to live in a society where people face problems making ends meet, unemployment, poverty and hardship,” he said.

He also warned that a further deterioration in the economic situation could undermine social stability and weaken citizens’ support for the system.

Official data show that Iran’s economy is experiencing major difficulties. Unemployment has risen, while the local currency has fallen to record lows. The country’s annual inflation rate for June was reported at 88%.

Pezeshkian has previously called for national unity to be maintained, listing social cohesion among Iran’s top priorities under the current circumstances.
