PDK Calls on Kurti to Unblock Institutions and Constitute the Assembly

On 17.08.2026 at 08:44, representatives of the Democratic Party of Kosovo called on acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti to appear before the Assembly and pave the way for overcoming the institutional deadlock.

PDK Secretary-General and MP Vlora Çitaku responded to the institutional situation in a post.

Çitaku said that PDK representatives were once again outside the government building and called on Kurti to go to the Assembly and enable the restoration of constitutional order.

She urged the acting prime minister not to hold the state, its institutions and the interests of citizens hostage to his political calculations.

Speaking from the same location, PDK MP Eliza Hoxha criticized Kurti and accused him and his ministers of usurping their positions and the institutions.

During a press conference outside the government building, where MPs from the PDK Parliamentary Group had gathered, Hoxha explained that they were there to demand that the institutions be unblocked and constitutional functioning restored.

According to her, instead of obstructing the Assembly, Kurti should go to the legislative institution and create the conditions for its constitution. Hoxha said that, as the winner of the latest elections, his primary duty is to propose a name so that the formation of the institutions can proceed.

PDK reiterated its demand that Kurti, as the representative of the political entity that won the parliamentary majority, make it possible for the procedure to constitute the Assembly to continue.

Hoxha stressed that neither Albin Kurti nor his party can place themselves above the state and the Constitution of Kosovo.

Finally, she called on Kurti and his MPs to return to the Assembly so that the 11th Legislature can begin and constitutional order can be restored.
