PDK calls for urgent approval of amendments to the Law on the Specialist Chambers

The Democratic Party of Kosovo welcomed the Assembly’s adoption of a declaration on the judgment by the Specialist Chambers in The Hague against Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi.

PDK expressed its gratitude to all parliamentary groups that supported and contributed to harmonizing the declaration presented by its parliamentary group.

According to the party’s statement, the Assembly today took a position in defense of the truth about the liberation war and against the judgment, which it considers unjust. PDK described this as evidence of a shared political will, which, it said, must be followed by concrete actions.

The next step, the party stressed, is the review of the draft law on amending and supplementing the Law on the Specialist Chambers, proposed by PDK. It called on the government to submit it to the Assembly without delay and on the parliamentary groups to review and vote on it urgently.

PDK underlined that, while the declaration defines the Assembly’s position, the adoption of the law would constitute the next step in responding institutionally to the demands raised. The party said it would continue its efforts to defend the just war of the Kosovo Liberation Army and guarantee a fair process for its former leaders, calling for the unity shown in defending Kosovo’s values to also be reflected in the vote on the draft law.
