PDK approves political declaration, calls for changes to Law on Specialist Chambers

Following the judgment by the Specialist Chambers in The Hague against former KLA leaders, the Steering Council of the Democratic Party of Kosovo unanimously approved a three-point Political Declaration.

The PDK has called on the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo to vote on the draft law submitted by the party, which provides for additions and amendments to the Law on Specialist Chambers. It also called for a review of the legislation and relevant agreements related to the functioning of this mechanism.

The Steering Council expressed its opposition to the judgment against Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi, stressing that justice must be applied impartially and without political influence.

Another PDK demand concerns ensuring full institutional support for legal defense and the judicial process on appeal. For this reason, the Government and the Assembly of Kosovo have been called upon, in accordance with their legal and institutional obligations, to provide unlimited funding, as well as professional and technical assistance to the defense teams of Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi during the further legal proceedings.

As part of the declaration, the PDK Steering Council also expressed its support for popular gatherings against decisions in The Hague that it considers unjust.
