The protesters called on Kurti not to violate the Constitution, but to return to the Assembly to enable the continuation of the constitutive session.
Fjolla Vukshinaj-Reçica, a member of the Pristina Municipal Assembly, said that the blockade of the Assembly goes beyond political debates, as, according to her, it is directly affecting citizens, municipalities and development projects.
She said that the blocking of the Kosovo Assembly is not an abstract political debate, nor is it simply a closed door in a building. According to her, for every day that the Assembly remains blocked, a citizen waits, a family faces a problem, a municipality has a project and a need remains unheard.
PDK MP Blerta Deliu said that Kurti and his ministers are usurpers, while Kosovo is stagnating and citizens are facing the consequences.
Deliu said that their demand is the restoration of constitutionality and legality. She stressed that Albin Kurti and the ministers who are in the building must vacate it, and then return to the Assembly to pave the way for the establishment of the country’s new institutions. According to her, the damage caused by stagnation is very great, and the citizens of the Republic are suffering from its consequences. She addressed MP Kurti, calling on him to return to the Assembly and enable the creation of new institutions, adding that Kosovo is a centuries-old project of many generations and cannot be destroyed by anyone, including MP Kurti.
Meanwhile, Alliance MP Besnik Tahiri called Kurti a repeat violator of the Constitution and accused him of blocking the constitution of the Assembly.
Tahiri said that the repeat violator of the Constitution continues to hide in his office and has taken away the mandates of the 120 MPs of the Kosovo Assembly, mandates granted to them by the people. According to him, a single person is preventing MPs from carrying out their duties as representatives elected by the people and voted for by the sovereign in the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo. He added that Kurti has blocked Kosovo’s constitution in an effort to find a way to seize the position of president for his party as well and turn the logic of the party he leads into that of a party-state. Tahiri stressed that the mandate belongs to the MPs who received it from the people, and that neither Albin Kurti nor anyone else has the right to take that mandate away from them or prevent the constitution of the Assembly.
