Osman Stafa appeals to citizens at protest: Let us put Albania above political parties; the time has come for the new generation

Speaking at the protest held in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, News24 journalist Osman Stafa called on citizens to gather in the square, stressing that change can be achieved only through their engagement.

During his speech, Stafa said that those taking part in the protest had already become part of history. According to him, the government controls society by using fear.

“You have already made history. This regime frightens Albanians by threatening their wages and their future. Fear has become an institution that keeps citizens under pressure, even threatening their very livelihoods. The moment fear is overcome in this square, those in power are the ones who begin to be afraid,” the journalist said.

Stafa also accused the government of failing to fulfill its commitments. He mentioned the water supply and property legalization, while noting that citizens still have to contend with bureaucratic obstacles to obtain their property documents.

In his speech, the journalist also raised concerns about the state of the healthcare system, claiming that necessary treatments and medical equipment are lacking. “Citizens go to hospitals forced to bring IV cannulas and saline solutions with them. Patients suffering from gynecological cancer do not receive the essential treatment, while equipment such as PET scanners is unavailable. Even people who suffer head injuries do not receive proper treatment,” he said.

Addressing those who have gone through such experiences, Stafa invited them to join the protest. He made a special appeal to elderly people, asking them to think about their children leaving the country to emigrate.

“Do you not feel saddened that your children have left the country? They work far from their families to help you. Your family and Albania come before any party. The parties tested over these past 36 years have had their chance. Now it is the new generation’s turn—a generation that loves this country and is prepared to sacrifice itself for it,” Osman Stafa concluded.
