Opposition Rejects New Territorial Division, Democratic Party Presents Model with 100 Municipalities and 6 Regions

The Democratic Party has unveiled its alternative proposal for Territorial Reform, accusing the Socialist Party of acting unilaterally in the process. Under the Democratic Party’s draft, Albania would be divided into 100 municipalities and 6 administrative regions.

The document was forwarded to opposition MPs by Luciano Boçi, who serves as co-chair of the relevant commission. In his communication with the parliamentary group, Boçi stressed that the new list of municipalities had received the green light from both the leader of the Democratic Party and the head of its parliamentary group.

He also invited Democratic Party lawmakers to publicly express their views after reviewing the material. His message reads: “Dear MPs, with the approval of the Democratic Party Chairman and the Parliamentary Group Chairman, I am forwarding you the list of municipalities (100) presented in the report by our experts. Everyone may then make their own statement. Thank you!”
