One month has passed since the latest snap parliamentary elections held in Kosovo, but the final results still have not been certified by the Central Election Commission, even though the counting of all votes has been completed. The reason for this is that the Supreme Court is reviewing several complaints related to the electoral process.
Meanwhile, the issue that led the country to elections — that of the president — remains unresolved.

So far, political parties have not held any meetings on this topic, beyond several public statements about their positions.
As in the previous legislature, in the new composition expected to be constituted as well, no political entity has enough votes to single-handedly break the deadlock that has gripped the political scene for months.
Yesterday, Vetëvendosje Movement said it had secured the necessary votes to form the new government, but that it would seek understanding with other parties for the election of the president. It was precisely the failure of this process several months ago that led the country to early elections.
“As far as the Government is concerned, we have the necessary votes. Therefore, immediately after the Assembly is constituted, without losing time, we should continue with the procedure for voting on the Government, while within the constitutional deadlines we will also work to reach a consensus on the election of the president,” Arbërie Nagavci told Radio Free Europe.
Nagavci’s statement was commented on by other parties. Artan Behrami, an elected MP from the Democratic Party of Kosovo, said that such a political approach is, in his view, a formula that once again leads to elections.
“This is the formula for going to elections, because this was the formula the first time, the second time, and the third time when we went to national elections. So I have said it: as soon as you hear Mr. Kurti say that first the Assembly is constituted, the speaker is elected, the government is voted on, the budget is voted on, international agreements are voted on, and then the president — this is always a formula for going to elections,” he said.
A few days ago, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo announced that it would take part in the vote for the country’s new president, but at the same time it requested that some of the points it had proposed be implemented.
In the latest elections, LVV secured 53 seats, PDK 22, LDK 18, and AAK 7 seats in the Assembly of Kosovo.
