“No to violence – Yes to safety!”, protest to be held tonight in Podujeva for greater security

A protest called by the “Roja e Kohës” Association will be held tonight in Podujeva, with the group inviting citizens to join the demand for increased security.

According to Nexhat Llumnica, a member of the association’s leadership, who spoke to Klankosova.tv, the gathering comes after the recent shooting incident in the city, in which four people were wounded, including a passerby.

He announced that the protest is scheduled to begin at 19:00 in Podujeva’s main square, before continuing with a march to the old Municipality of Podujeva building.

The organizers’ demands include reviewing and tightening the Law on Weapons, creating a specialized unit for preventing violence in the community, more investment in mental health services, stricter checks for gun permits, awareness campaigns to educate citizens, as well as institutional accountability for failures in preventing violence.

Through their call, the organizers appealed to citizens to join the protest peacefully, under the slogan “No to violence – Yes to safety!”
