Nicolas Maduro Appears in New Photos from New York Prison: Grateful for Every Blessing

Around eight months after his arrest, former Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has shared new photographs from the American prison where he is being held in New York.

The images were posted on his personal X account and appear to have been taken on June 25, 2026, at 6:05 p.m. Maduro is seen wearing a gray tracksuit and black sunglasses, while appearing to have lost a significant amount of weight. Nevertheless, he is smiling and making a victory sign with his hand.

In a message written in English, Maduro expressed his gratitude to the people who, as he put it, have never stopped supporting him.

He wrote that they remain steadfast and that their hearts are filled with the love of their supporters, which is transformed into prayer, uninterrupted action, solidarity and sincere support. Maduro expressed immense thanks for every word, gesture and blessing.

In a second post, written this time in Spanish, the former president said that he had sent the photographs to his family as a “small gift of love and hope.”

Maduro explained that he was sending the images as a small gift to all his grandchildren, his sons and daughters, as well as to all the noble people who love him.

Previous photographs of Maduro were made public after his detention by U.S. military forces in January and during his transfer to a U.S. court.

These new images have been published at a time when Maduro remains in custody in the United States.
