New KEK Trade Union Announces Symbolic Action and Protest

The New KEK Trade Union is expected to organize a symbolic action today in front of KEK’s offices in Pristina.

In its announcement, the union said that the action would begin at 11:00.

Meanwhile, following an extraordinary meeting of the Presidency held yesterday, Xhelal Jashari, president of the New KEK Trade Union, also announced a workers’ protest in KEK’s three divisions. The protest has been scheduled for Wednesday at 08:00.

“As the Presidency, we decided that on Wednesday at 08:00 in the morning, we would express our dissatisfaction in the three divisions. So, on Wednesday at 08:00, the New KEK Trade Union, together with all the workers in the three divisions, will protest and stand in solidarity with the families of workers who have lost their lives at their workplaces,” Jashari declared.

According to him, the meeting extensively addressed working conditions and workers’ safety, including the lack of protective equipment.

“Today, we discussed at length the conditions of the workers of the Kosovo Energy Corporation, and it was assessed and established that working conditions are extremely difficult, while workers’ safety and protective equipment are also severely lacking at the Kosovo Energy Corporation,” he said.
