Nepal, flood toll worsens: 750 dead and more than 3,000 missing

Search-and-rescue teams continue working to find more than 3,000 people reported missing after devastating floods hit Rasuwa district on Wednesday, August 26, along the border between Nepal and Tibet.

According to the latest data, the death toll has reached around 750, while operations to locate the missing continue.

The U.S. Department of State has announced that it will allocate a fund of $3.6 million to support Nepal and the areas affected by the natural disaster. CNN also reports that at least 90 U.S. citizens are missing in Nepal following the floods.

The risk remains high, as authorities warn of the possibility of further flooding. Residents have been urged to remain alert, while the water level in the Bhotekoshi River has risen significantly.

The situation was further complicated by another landslide recorded in the affected area. For safety reasons, teams attempting to reach the missing people were temporarily forced to withdraw to a safer area.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, while search-and-rescue missions are expected to continue over the coming days.
