NAME / Wanted for Drug Trafficking, 26-Year-Old Arrested in Kavajë, Extradition to Italy Pending

As part of the successive operations carried out by the operational services of the Search Sector (FAST Albania), within the Directorate of the Special Operational Force, for locating and apprehending internationally wanted citizens, another phase of the coded police operation “Fast” has been finalized.

As a result of this operation, specialists of the Search Sector (FAST Albania), in cooperation with the operational structures of the Durrës Local Police Directorate and the Kavajë Police Commissariat, located in Kavajë and provisionally arrested, for the purpose of extradition to Italy, the citizen:

Spartak Berisha, 26 years old, resident in Kavajë.

This citizen had been declared internationally wanted by Interpol Rome, after the Court of Brescia, Italy, imposed the security measure “Arrest in prison” for the criminal offense “Participation in a criminal organization for the purpose of trafficking narcotic substances,” as provided for by the Italian Penal Code. This criminal offense carries a maximum sentence of up to 24 years in prison.

Investigations show that the 26-year-old, as a member of a criminal organization composed mainly of Albanian citizens but also some Italian citizens, in collaboration with other members of this organization, trafficked narcotic substances with the aim of distributing them in several areas of Italy.

Interpol Tirana, in cooperation with Interpol Rome, is continuing the procedures for the extradition of the 26-year-old to Italy.
