Lezhë police have prevented a serious crime suspected of being planned in retaliation for the killing of 40-year-old Ilir Gjini on July 9, 2026, in Kurbin.

As part of an operation codenamed “Argos”, police arrested 37-year-old Emanuel Gehard, alias Basha, alias Lika, the brother of the 40-year-old victim, who is suspected of travelling armed in an armoured vehicle.
According to police, the 37-year-old, who has a criminal record, was stopped in Fushë Milot while driving an armoured Mercedes-Benz ML with German licence plates.
A search of his person uncovered a Skorpion automatic firearm and a magazine containing 16 live rounds.

Operation codenamed “Argos” concluded.
The brother of the 40-year-old victim was arrested in Fushë Milot while travelling armed in an armoured vehicle with German licence plates. The arrested man has a criminal record.
One Skorpion automatic firearm, live ammunition and a Mercedes-Benz ML were seized.
As a result of continuous monitoring of the situation in the county through intensive operational work and checks, as well as the analysis and ongoing follow-up of previous criminal incidents to prevent related incidents and crime in general, specialists from the Serious Crime Investigation Sector, in cooperation with specialists from the Operational Investigation Section and officers from Kurbin Police Station, concluded the operation codenamed “Argos”.
The operation prevented a killing suspected to be in retaliation for the murder of I. Gj., alias I. L., alias I. K., alias I. N., 40, on July 9, 2026, in Kurbin.
As part of the operation, police also arrested E.(G.) B.(L.), 37, a resident of Kurbin with a record of involvement in previous criminal incidents and the brother of the 40-year-old victim.
The armoured Mercedes-Benz ML with German licence plates driven by the 37-year-old was stopped in Fushë Milot. A search of his person uncovered one Skorpion automatic firearm with a magazine containing 16 rounds.
Intensive investigations and police work are continuing to apprehend the perpetrator of the 40-year-old’s murder and establish the circumstances surrounding it.
The case files were referred to the Prosecutor’s Office for further action.
