Murder of 20-Year-Old in Ksamil, Footage of Sokrat Vata’s Arrest Released (VIDEO)

Police have released footage of the arrest of Sokrat Vata, the 29-year-old from Has who fatally stabbed a French tourist, 20-year-old Miguel Mendes, in Ksamil.

As seen in the footage, the suspected perpetrator had hidden in the trunk of a Ford driven by a 31-year-old Turkish woman, while a 38-year-old Turkish man was also traveling in the vehicle as a passenger.

In the footage released by police, Vata can be seen barefoot and wearing bloodstained sweatpants.

The suspect and the two Turkish nationals were taken to the Vlora Local Police Directorate for further procedural action.

Police statement:

Levan, Fier/Suspected perpetrator of the murder of the 20-year-old in Ksamil apprehended and arrested five hours after the killing

He was apprehended as a result of the coordination and cooperation between officers from the Vlora Local Police Directorate and the Fier Local Police Directorate.

The suspect was apprehended by operational officers from the Vlora Local Police Directorate, in cooperation with the Shqiponja unit of the Fier Local Police Directorate, at a joint checkpoint set up to capture him on the Levan-Fier road.

The suspect, citizen S. V., 29, had hidden in the trunk of a vehicle driven by a 31-year-old Turkish woman, while a 38-year-old Turkish man was also traveling in the vehicle as a passenger.

The suspect and the two Turkish nationals were taken to the Vlora Local Police Directorate for further procedural action.

Meanwhile, the investigative team, under the direction of the Prosecutor’s Office, is continuing its work to fully document the circumstances of the incident.
