Discussions marking the 25th anniversary of the Ohrid Framework Agreement should focus on the state the country aims to build in the future, rather than returning it to the conflicts of the past, Foreign Minister Timço Mucunski said.

Speaking at the anniversary commemoration, Mucunski said today’s debate should not take the country back to 2001, but should instead provide answers about the model of state that citizens want to have in 2051.
According to him, the lessons learned from the past should serve to direct greater attention toward the country’s future development.
The minister said North Macedonia has already achieved a higher level of maturity and possesses the necessary capacity to overcome ethnic divisions.
He added that the goal should be to create a genuine civic society capable of responding to the challenges of the 21st century and the realities of the times in which we live.
