MRD coordinates actions for the establishment and operationalization of the Southeast Regional Development Center

On June 24, 2026, the Ministry of Regional Development (MRD) held a coordination meeting as part of the process for establishing and making operational the Southeast Regional Development Center.

The meeting was chaired by the Acting First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Regional Development, Mr. Ali Dula, who is also leading this process, with the aim of coordinating interinstitutional activities to advance the establishment of the Southeast Regional Development Center.

Present at the meeting were the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Local Government Administration, Mr. Arton Konushevci, the Mayor of Ferizaj, Mr. Agim Aliu, the Mayor of Hani i Elezit, Mr. Mehmet Ballazhi, the Deputy Mayor of Shtime, Mr. Adnan Ademi, representatives of the Municipality of Shtërpcë, Ms. Arta Ahmeti Xhylani, acting as substitute for the Acting Secretary General of the MRD, the Director of RDA East, Mr. Agim Zeka, the Director of RDA Center, Ms. Mimoza Tafarshiku, directors of municipal departments, and other institutional representatives.

During the discussions, the Acting Director of the Department for the Coordination of Regional Development Policies, Ms. Kreshnike Arifi, presented the progress of the process for establishing Regional Development Centers, explaining their institutional framework, objectives, and function in promoting balanced regional development.

Meanwhile, the Director of the Department for Regional Policy Analysis, Ms. Shyhrete Kastrati, presented the actions and steps required for the implementation of the Guide for the Identification of Areas for Strategic Investments and the Feasibility Study for Regional Socio-Economic Development, with an emphasis on identifying development potential and creating conditions for attracting investments.

The meeting also addressed the next steps for making the Southeast Regional Development Center operational, as well as the role it is expected to play in coordinating development priorities, preparing regional operational plans, developing and implementing joint projects, and mobilizing funds and investments for the region.

At the close of the meeting, participants expressed their readiness to continue interinstitutional and intermunicipal cooperation for the establishment and operationalization of the Southeast Regional Development Center, describing this initiative as an important step toward advancing balanced and sustainable regional development.
