The Nepalese disaster management agency announced that 1,924 people are still missing. Search-and-rescue operations are continuing in the worst-hit areas.
Flash floods, along with powerful surges of water and mud, have caused considerable damage in several parts of Nepal and along the border region with Tibet. Entire villages have been submerged, while roads, bridges and other infrastructure have been destroyed or severely damaged.
Difficult conditions on the ground are complicating the work of rescue teams. Unfavorable weather and damaged infrastructure are hindering their access to locations where missing people may be.
Authorities are continuing the search and the process of identifying the victims, so the toll may change further. At this stage, the total number of people killed in Nepal and Tibet has surpassed 620.
