Milloshoski: VMRO-DPMNE supports a single electoral district if consensus is reached

MP Antonijo Milloshoski said that VMRO-DPMNE is ready to support the single electoral district model, but only if the political parties reach a joint agreement on the issue.

“If the political parties manage to reach an agreement and a general consensus that the country should be a single electoral district, VMRO-DPMNE will have no problem supporting that solution,” Milloshoski said.

He said this is not a new position for the party, as it had also put forward the same stance during previous negotiations. According to him, some political entities held similar positions at the time, but the talks produced no agreement because of differing proposals.

“In the previous talks, VMRO-DPMNE also stated that we support a single electoral district, and several other parties shared that position. Unfortunately, two or three political groups were opposed—some proposed eight electoral districts, another political party proposed three electoral districts, while DUI proposed a five-percent threshold for a single electoral district. It was clear that reaching consensus would be difficult. If consensus is reached, we have no problem with having a single electoral district,” Milloshoski stressed. (INA)
