Mickoski: The 700-million-euro Eurobond was repaid ahead of schedule

Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski announced that the Government has repaid the 2020 Eurobond in the amount of 700 million euros, which had been taken out by the previous government, closing this obligation ahead of schedule and saving several million euros.

He said that in the past two years, approximately 4.5–4.6 billion euros of debt have been repaid or restructured, which, according to him, were created mainly during the period of governance by SDSM and DUI.

“In these two years, around 4.5–4.6 billion euros have been restructured. This is debt and obligations created, for the most part, during the seven years of SDSM and DUI rule. Naturally, there are also parts from earlier, but for the most part, percentage-wise, this is something above three-quarters. We are servicing these obligations, while at the same time finding funds for infrastructure projects. We have also signed collective agreements with education, healthcare, administration, etc. When work is done wisely, all the harmful consequences from a time that I would never want repeated, either for the citizens or for the state, are repaired. We will continue to function in that way,” said Hristijan Mickoski, prime minister.

Speaking about economic indicators, Mickoski stressed that during the governance of SDSM and DUI, gross domestic product growth was slightly below 1.8 percent. Meanwhile, according to him, in the seven quarters of the government led by VMRO-DPMNE and the coalition, this growth was almost twice as high, specifically 3.5 percent.
